Chan S. Hwang, MD
Chief Medical Officer/VP of Medical Affairs
Chan S. Hwang, M.D. is currently the Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs for NeoBiotech, Inc. He has over 18 years of clinical experience as a physician working in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in the state of Washington. Dr. Hwang has many years of experience in helping patients reduce their reliance on opioids while effectively treating their pain conditions. He has been published in his field and has made multiple presentations in the area of physical modalities to treat medical conditions. He feels called to serve regularly in medical mission work to underserved areas, and has seen patients in Central America, the Caribbean, South America, Eastern Europe, Oceania, and South and Southeast Asia.
Dr. Hwang received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Northwestern University (Evanston, IL). Afterwards, he attended Loma Linda University Medical School (Loma Linda, CA) where he received his Medical Degree. He returned to Chicago where he completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago through the Northwestern University Medical School/McGaw Medical Center. He then moved with his wife and family to the greater Seattle metropolitan area where he currently practices as a physiatrist at MultiCare Health System (Tacoma, WA).
John Kim – Founder
VP of Research
John Kim is the Founder of NeoBiotech, Inc. where he is currently the Vice President of Research & Development and Operations. He has over thirteen years of experience in the pharmaceutical sciences research and development area where his research focus has been on powder chemistry and nanotechnologies in the area of topical drug delivery technology.
John’s career and education has been an eclectic mix where he initially majored in Vocal Performance in college, later worked in the construction industry before he found his true calling in the development of topical drug delivery technologies.
During his 13+ years in pharmaceutical sciences research and development, he has developed numerous types of topical drug delivery products and has also acquired numerous patents in the area of topical drug delivery technologies. In order to expand in this area and to also establish a Christian-based healthcare company from a mission perspective, John established NeoBiotech where the focus of the research has been on the development of differentiated topical drug delivery technologies.
Currently, John is based in Auburn, WA where his work at NeoBiotech, Inc. is focused on gaining approval of the Active C line of products and establishing a manufacturing facility to commercialize this exciting new product line.
Henry Pak, MS, MEM
VP of Engineering/Quality
Henry Pak is slated to become the Vice President of Engineering/Quality/Regulatory while also playing a role as Interim Vice President of Marketing at NeoBiotech, Inc. He has over 25+ years of broad life sciences experience ranging from academic research to industry R&D and management consulting.
In his consulting experiences, Mr. Pak’s focus has been on excellence in product development and technology management in the life sciences arena. He has managed projects (pharmaceuticals, medical devices, healthcare providers) in Product Strategy and Development, Quality/Regulatory, Sales/Marketing, Supply Chain/Operations and Technology Management that have resulted in significant value over a broad range of metrics from small start-ups to major Fortune 50 healthcare companies.
In the academic/corporate research arena, Mr. Pak has been involved in an eclectic mix of basic and applied research projects including development of automated immunodiagnostics, medical device development, development & commercialization of advanced drug delivery systems. neurophysiology of evoked potentials, epilepsy therapeutics (drug, device), laser angioplasty, ultrasound 3D color imaging, chronobiology and the complexities of drug-device combination products.
Mr. Pak earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering at Northwestern University followed by a Master of Science in Bioengineering at the University of Illinois. While working full-time, he also completed his Masters in Engineering Management (MEM) at Northwestern University. Mr. Pak is certified as a Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB), Auditing (CQA), Organizational Management (CMOE), Quality (CQE), Reliability (CRE), New Product Development Professional (NPDP-pending renewal) and Project Management Professional (PMP).
Esther Park-Hwang, MD, MBA
VP of Clinical
Esther Park-Hwang, M.D., MBA has practiced clinical medicine for 20+ years where she is both a Clinical Assistant Professor at a University of Washington affiliated hospital and a Medical Director of inpatient obstetrics unit at Tacoma General Hospital.
Dr Park-Hwang’s academic and professional achievements and interests include multiple conference presentations and articles in the areas of chronic pelvic pain and sexually transmitted diseases. She is actively engaged in researching the role of vitamin D supplementation during pregnancy, de-isolation process of MRSA colonized pregnant women, the implementation of immediate postpartum long acting contraceptives and its effects on public health, especially for lower socioeconomic women and teens. She also has an avid calling to medical mission work in Southeast Asia and the Micronesian islands where she has served in Cambodia, North Korea, and Guam. She has particular interest in using naturally occurring ingredients to treat common diseases.
Dr. Park-Hwang received her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Washington (Seattle, WA) and subsequently received her Medical Degree from Loma Linda University (Loma Linda CA). She completed a residency in obstetrics-gynecology at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center where she then joined the faculty staff full-time at the University of Illinois Medical Center. The desire to be close to her home state led her back to the greater Seattle WA area in 1998 where she joined the faculty as a Clinical Instructor at a University of Washington affiliated program where she currently is on staff. In 2012, Dr. Park-Hwang received her Executive Master of Business Administration from Washington State University while she was still working full-time as a physician. She has served in the IRB, the compensation committee, perinatal clinical improvement team, women’s collaborative health committee and women’s health services committee. She is excited to be a part of the NeoBiotech team.
